Wednesday Greetings,

Rained out!

My grandson's game last evening was "rained out."  We were disappointed, but, of course, not as disappointed as my grandson and the other kids.  It's great fun watching them play baseball, cheering them on, high-fiving after the game.  Their last game was rained out, too!

And at the same time, the desert cried out in joy.  MORE RAIN!  The desert needs it.  The plants, cacti, birds, and lizards were thrilled to have more water in their lives.

It's always like that in life.  Someone is giving thanks; someone is disappointed.

As a Christian, I know it's always been like that.  It's just the way life is.  The challenge for us as people of faith is to remember that when things "go our way," there are others for whom it is quite the opposite.  And vice versa.

It was like that the night Jesus was born.  And for me, as a Christian, that's the greatest reminder:  God is with us... when things go our way and when they don't.  It isn't God's job to make our lives perfect in the way we want them to be.  It's our job to see that no matter what, God is with us, calling us through whatever we face, calling us to help each other through whatever we face, calling us to be humble and grateful and praiseful.

I face my disappointments knowing that someone is celebrating something, knowing that I'll celebrate again, and knowing that God is somehow in it with me... and that's the most important thing...

It's a challenging life we live...

Peace in our journeys,
