Wednesday Greetings,

Whoa.   Predictions are that Tucson will hit the high 90's in temperature later this week, and may even cross the 100 degree mark by next week.  Someone's turning up the heat..... early!  That's earlier than normal for us.

As we face that heat, I am giving God thanks for creating brains. And I'm giving God thanks for those who have used their brains to create HVAC systems to help moderate the temperature inside our buildings, homes, and cars.  And I'm thankful for those who used those brains to learn how to fix HVAC systems when they break so that I can be cool again.  And I'm praying for those who don't have homes or cars to be able to find their way into buildings where they can cool off in the daytime, and I'm making sure that I support organizations that do so for those folks.

While the heat gets turned up in my life, I'm also working at finding ways to be grateful.  I know that will keep me faithfully focused and living the kind of life God wants me to live.

And I'm using this as practice for when the heat is turned up in my life in other ways, in ways that are harder to face, overwhelming, and faith-challenging.

I figure if I practice now, I'll be better at facing the really "hot" stuff in life.

I pray you will also.

Peace in our journeys,
Pastor Steve Melde
