#CPC Wednesday Message 8-24-22
Wednesday Greetings,
As I arrived at the church campus this morning, the motorcycle cop was out front using a radar gun to catch people speeding. Speed Traps! No one really likes them. Most of us think they are unfair. The police officer hides by our Memorial Garden wall waiting for unsuspecting speeders and rushes to ruin their day. Those cops are limiting our freedom!
Except..... it's the law. And speed limits have been set to keep us safe. Though they may limit our freedom, it's really for our own good. We all know that. We may disagree at where the limit should be set, but we all know that limits are actually helpful. And we all know we still have a lot of freedom despite the limits. People say that about our religion, too. But we know that the limits God set for us in behavior (like the 10 Commandments, or the command to love God, neighbor, self) are given to us for our own good. Yes, they limit our freedom, but come on, we have sooooo much freedom within them that we probably would never really reach the limits of what we can be or do when we obey them. And, honestly, they give us the freedom to live a life that is truly wonderful, free, and amazing. God gives us sooooo much freedom. What are you doing with it? Trying to break the limits or living freely within the limits? God gives us soooooo much freedom. What are you doing with it? Peace in our journeys,
Pastor Steve Melde
