Wednesday Message 8-12-20
Wednesday Greetings,
"Imagination is more important than knowledge."
Albert Einstein
Be careful. As we move forward, we need only to use our knowledge of the past to imagine the future. (You can quote me on that).
In recent weeks, there's even more conversation about wishing we could be back to normal, back to the way things were, even in our life together in church. But a global virus changes most everything, including how we do church in the future.
Our forced movement to everything online has actually brought some blessings to us. We have new people who have become a regular, faithful part of our church family. They have begun worshiping and participating in mission with as full participants, and they don't live in Tucson, and they weren't a part of a church family. And they won't live in Tucson, even in the winter. They will be a part of our church family, online.
Who would have imagined?
God did. God makes connections all the time. And I do believe God is showing us new ways of being the church. The problem is that we only have the knowledge for what was.
And the challenge is how to create a new church that is both gathered in person and online, and be a church family.
It's time to pray for imagination. We'll use the knowledge we have and trust in God ... and imagine a whole new church. How awesome!
