Michelangelo is quoted as saying:

"In every block of marble I see a statue;
See it plainly as though it stood before me,
Shaped and perfect in attitude and action.
I have only to hew away the rough walls
Which imprison the lovely apparition
To reveal it to other eyes, as mine already see it."

I think that's how God sees us, and I think our lives are the hewing.  
Trust the process.  You are becoming what God already sees you to be.
I pray those other eyes.... are yours.  And you see yourself as the beautiful creation God made you to be.
