God doesn't forget.

Now that's a bit contrary to what I was taught as a child.  I was told that when we confess our sins, God forgets them.  But I just don't believe that God forgets, anything or anyone.  

God does forgive.

And that's even more powerful.  Though God remembers my sin (especially the ones I repeat), God doesn't hold them against me, God forgives me.  How powerful to know that the thief on the cross next to Jesus was told he'd see Jesus in paradise, even later that day.  He could have had a life-time of countless numbers of sins and mistakes, and yet, he was given forgiveness.  

How amazing God's grace must be!

And so, in gratitude, I try to live my life worthy of that forgiveness.  Lucky for me, God's grace isn't a one time offer.  It's new every moment.  So, I confess, I ask for forgiveness, I trust that I'm given that, and I try to live a life worthy of that forgiveness, again, and again, and again.

No, God doesn't forget.  God forgives.   How amazing God's grace must be!
