Wednesday Message 1-6-2021
Wednesday Greetings,
"How do you solve a problem like Maria?"
Every Christmas Season the movie, The Sound of Music, is shown on TV. And every year, I watch it. I love it. I grew up watching it at Christmas.
I have so many favorite parts, but this year it struck me as the nuns were singing, How do you solve a problem like Maria.... that you don't. It isn't our business to solve her life for her; it's her job, it's God's job. And when the Reverend Mother encouraged Maria to "Climb Every Mountain," she was empowering Maria to figure it out.
We are not our brothers' keepers, we are our brothers' sibling. God is the keeper; we are the caretaker.
All of that means that our calling is to come alongside others and help them find their way, point them to The Way, and let God do the rest. When we honor people's journey, we let God work in them in the way God works in them, and we let them become who they are meant to become, not who we think they should be, not how we think they should be.
Our role is to empower people to find their life in God, not force it.
And what is the best way to do that? .... by living it ourselves!
