A lot of us try hard to figure out what it is we have to do to honor, please God.

It's kind of basic:

... what does the Lord require of you... 
... but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God...

(Micah 6:8)

As Nike would say, "Just do it!"
