As we study Phillip Yancey's book, The Jesus I Never Knew, and focus this week on the Sermon on the Mount (especially the Beatitudes) (Matthew 5, 6,7), we are all reminded of how hard it is to really follow Jesus' teachings and way of living.

Yancey says, "God's ideal is so high that you'll never be able to reach it, no matter how strict your legalism ... but God's grace is so amazing that you don't have to."

But.... that doesn't mean we don't try.....

We have to try all the time to be better and get better at it.  Much of what Jesus calls us to may be unattainable.... or is it?  We can't give up trying.  It's what our Savior calls us to, and if we are to follow Jesus.... then.... we better follow!

But along the way, aren't we all grateful for Grace!
