Wednesday Message 3-25-20

Wednesday Greetings,

Psalm 13

How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
    How long will you hide your face from me?
 How long must I take counsel in my soul
    and have sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

 Consider and answer me, O Lord my God;
    light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,
lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,”
    lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.

 But I have trusted in your steadfast love;
    my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
 I will sing to the Lord,
    because he has dealt bountifully with me.

I think more than one of us have been praying this psalm without knowing it.  The challenge in the midst of a pandemic like the COVID-19 Coronavirus is to get to the end of the psalm...
Trusting in the the steadfast love of the Lord, and singing to the Lord.

It is clear, we won't all survive this.

But it is more clear that this is still God's creation, made in love, made for life.  And you and I have the chance now to put our faith into practice and trust that somehow God is working a way through with us.   And we can return to rejoicing in the Lord.

You start that by looking back, by counting all the ways God has been with us in the past, and promised to be with us in the future, and proclaiming, therefore.... God is in the midst of us.

And that is reason enough to rejoice.

Peace in our journeys,
Pastor Steve Melde
