#CPC Wednesday Message 1-19-22

Wednesday Greetings,

I was reading the story of Jesus' death in Luke's Gospel.  I'm not sure why in January I was reading that, but I still like to just pick up the Bible and read and wonder.Luke 23:34   Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing."And I thought.... well, that's nice.  They didn't know what they were doing, and Jesus asked for their forgiveness, which probably isn't hard to do... they didn't know what they were doing. But what about when we do know what we are doing... when we know we are sinning???  Would Jesus ask the same? The Good News is that the same gift of forgiveness is offered to us, whether we know what we've done or are doing, or we don't.The challenge is to accept the forgiveness and be thankful and then not repeat the sin... to become aware of the sin, know better what we are doing, and live more intentionally in God's grace, gratefully, not repeating the sin for which God forgives us.Let your life be a journey of becoming aware, and accepting the grace God gives in Jesus, and living a grateful life because of that grace.
Peace in our journeys,
Pastor Steve Melde
