Wednesday Message for January 23, 2019

Wednesday Greetings,

Truth.... It's better than fiction!

A few days ago I was struggling... struggling to see that anything good or faithful was happening in all the activities of my day.  I was running from one event to the next, not feeling connected, not feeling inspired... etc.

I was really frustrated, and so as I was driving I turned on the radio to distract me on my way to the next appointment.   Nothing good was on.  I hated every song and commercial on my car's presets.  So, as I reached to turn off the radio, I heard a voice, "Listen."

Then, I laughed.  The singer sang, "You've got to have faith."

Bahahaha.   I love how God reveals Godself in strange and funny ways.  That day he was using pop singer and an old pop song by George Michael to give me a message.  Trust me, the song isn't really at all related to the faith I needed in that moment, but the words were clear, and the message was received.

Sometimes in the flurry of the moments, we forget there is still a grander plan.  And you've got to have faith to just keep doing the flurry of moments and let God bring the plan together.

I turned off the radio, yes, I was comfortable in the fact that I had already received my  message, and I just drove quietly with God... trusting that the chaos of the moments would somehow be turned into a diving plan...  and the frustration subsided, and the day went on... not smoothly, I might add.   But it didn't matter.  I knew God was in control, and my moments would be knit together into something greater.

And I knew... God can sing!

I hope you hear God today.

Peace in our journeys,
Pastor Steve Melde
